(Texas) Colorado River Watershed Illustrated Map

LVB enjoyed the challenge of illustrating the Texas Colorado River’s 40,000-square-mile watershed (the size of Kentucky) into a single map product. The map is a visual communication aid for the Land Trust to use with members, donors, and partners to discuss their program area’s key geographies.

The map highlights the importance of preserving Texan agriculture, critical waterways, wildlife, and the outdoor sporting culture by supporting private land conservation. The map intends to help the land trust attract and engage new members as part of their organization’s rebranding and membership campaign.

Landscape sketches or ‘vignettes’ evoke the distinct character of the watershed’s primary landscapes—from the high dry plains and rolling mesquite grasslands to the oak and juniper dotted hill country and Gulf coast wetlands and prairies. Hand-drawn wildlife sketches surrounding the watershed boundary depict Texan livestock and wild game, fowl, and fish supporting the outdoor sports and agricultural themes.
