Peconic Estuary Fish Passage & Habitat Improvements

Team: Land Use Ecological Services Inc. & Inter-Fluve Inc.

Suffolk County, NY | 2019

The Peconic Estuary is one of twenty-eight in the National Estuary Program administered by the USEPA and was deemed an “estuary of national significance” in 1992.  Road crossings with perched culverts and constructed dykes create fish-passage impediments and disrupt the natural wetland hydro-period and ecological life-cycles.

The Suffolk County Conceptual Habitat Restoration Design Planning project provides feasibility studies for addressing four priority sites in the estuary aiming to restore tidal flow to historic tidal wetlands, restore fish-passage, and increase diversity of estuarine ecosystems to benefit wildlife.

LVBrown Studios teamed with Land Use Ecological Services Inc, and Inter-Fluve Inc. to provide presentation quality, illustrated conceptual plan sheets based on environmental site data and engineering drawings.
