Milwaukee Waterscape Augmented Reality Game

Milwaukee, WI for Reflo Inc. |

Reflo Inc., a Sustainable Water Solutions organization based in Milwaukee, WI, commissioned LVB to create a series of imaginative watershed maps based on Milwaukee’s historical past (1830s-1920s) for an interactive watershed education augmented reality game.  The Waterscape MKE game is part of a mobile and interactive light table that engages Milwaukee youth to learn through role-playing and decision-making scenarios to connect planning impacts to the urban watershed and water quality.

Historical archival materials, Reflo’s extensive database of MKE watershed assets, and prior urban planning and river restoration experience informed the map development. This first game phase highlights Milwaukee’s pre-settlement wetland landscape through early 1900s urban growth.

The game prototype was launched in June 2018. Future game phases will focus on present and future Milwaukee, and green infrastructure solutions.
