Texas Grasslands & Savannas Initiative Regional Map

LVB created a stylized illustrated map for Coastal Prairie Conservancy’s (CPC) Texas Grasslands and Savannas Initiative (TGSI). The NRCS-funded initiative is committed to preserving the vast grasslands and savannas of Southeast Texas. These ecosystems are critical for wildlife habitat, help manage water resources, and support sustainable agriculture. TGSI works with private landowners to implement sustainable land management practices, offering resources, technical assistance, and financial incentives to ensure these lands remain vibrant and productive.

The map covers 16 counties in Southeast Texas: from Houston and the Piney Woods on the east; the coastal prairies along the Texas Gulf Coast from Galveston Bay to Matagorda Bay; and the Texas Blackland Prairie and Post Oak Savanna stretching from the western outskirts of Houston to just outside of Bastrop. The map highlights CPC’s protected lands and TGSI’s mission to preserve large tracts of grassland bird and pollinator habitat in the region’s rural and agricultural areas. The map is a public-facing communication tool for use at various scales, from web to poster displays.
