Pick Nature Preserve Masterplan

Monterey Dam Study

A picture is worth a thousand words. The rendering was very helpful in allowing the Advisory Committee and the City Council to visualize and understand the improvements being considered as part of the proposed project.  In the case of our project, we anticipate significant changes to the landscape based on dam removal which creates unique restoration opportunities along the river banks.  The next step will involve incorporating the various elements into an actual design and bid package to pursue the project.

Inter-Fluve has a long and productive relationship with Lauren. She consistently provides very high quality drawings and concept documents for our projects, and helps us set a high standard for visual presentation. She is able to quickly develop plan view concepts, oblique sketches or detailed cross-section typical drawings that really stand out from the crowd. Lauren is a valuable asset and a great partner. Christiana Creek

Lauren’s concept renderings have helped us visually articulate our intentions with restoration efforts on Christiana Creek.  She took our thoughts and turned them into beautiful plans that can be understood and appreciated by all stakeholders involved in our project.

Wolf Run Trail Signage

Lauren is a very creative, talented and knowledgeable watershed design planner that was instrumental in the success of our recent Wolf Run Trail project. Her concept plans, informational signage work, team building and design presentation skills were outstanding and gave our project a very professional touch. She delivered the work on time and stayed within her cost estimates. Plus she’s an absolute joy to work with!

Lauren is an energetic, creative, and communicative water resources professional with a highly useful skill-set in design, education, and habitat management. Having observed her working collaboratively with other graduate students and clients in a UW-Madison Water Resources Management workshop setting,  I watched her launch her firm and undertake consulting projects with great enthusiasm and competence. She works with clients in understanding their needs and options, and delivers high-quality outcomes on schedule.  And she’s a pleasure to work with!

Few people have the gift to draw beautiful landscapes that effectively communicate ideas. Fewer can illustrate a deep understanding of ecological processes within landscape renderings. Lauren Brown has both those gifts and is a delight to work with.

As the executive director of the Cedar Lakes Conservation Foundation land trust, I worked with Lauren on the development of the Joan M. Pick Nature Preserve. Lauren researched the legacy parcel and creatively coordinated a planning process that identified key themes and ideas for the Cedar Lakes community. She combined her imagination and design skills to professionally illustrate the potential landscape for the Preserve.

Door Creek Watershed Kiosk

Lake Kegonsa’s health is directly related to the water quality of its tributaries, including Door Creek. That’s why the Friends of Lake Kegonsa Society (FOLKS) works closely with the Dane County Land and Water Resources Department so that Door Creek watershed residents understand and appreciate the value of natural resources in their watershed, and are actively involved in carrying out strategies in the Door Creek Watershed Management Action Plan. The Door Creek watershed kiosk that Lauren Brown designed for Dane County to install at Fish Camp County Park helps us achieve those goals.  It’s a beautiful and informative kiosk!

Sheboygan River AOC Habitat Restoration

Lauren’s contribution in the development of environmental restoration renderings was invaluable as the SEH Project Team described recommended watercourse improvements to the City of Sheboygan, Sheboygan County, the Wisconsin DNR, the public, and a broad range of project stakeholders.  Her renderings were integral to the decision making process and the ability to obtain support for the recommended alternatives. Black Earth Creek Signage

Spring-fed streams and the trout that live within them are a reflection of how well we are managing our cities, farms, infrastructure, and natural resources. A dizzying array of complex factors affect not only whether or not trout are present, but also the size and abundance of trout. In our recent project in Mazomanie, WI that returned Black Earth Creek to its historical watercourse, it was critical to convey these concepts and factors to local residents who utilize the creek, or the multi-use trail that now parallels it. We enlisted the expertise of Lauren Brown to not only design the on-site signage that supports and explains the project, but also to communicate important information about the biology of streams, and why they are important to us. Lauren did a great job, and we highly recommend her work.
