Our clients & Collaborators

Barb McKittrick, Environmental Education Manager

Forest Preserve District of Kane County

After a long search for a design agency that could combine in-depth knowledge of ecologic principles with expertise in interpretive sign development, we were so lucky to find LVBrown Studio for our signage project. Lauren is a rare mix of natural resource manager, landscape architect and creative designer – perfect for creating compelling, educational, and beautiful trail signage!

Jeff Crosby, Executive Director

Colorado River Land Trust, Dripping Springs, Texas

We hired Lauren during our organizational rebranding efforts to create visual products representing our conservation values across a diverse stretch of the state of Texas. Not only was the completed project visually stunning, but throughout the project, Lauren provided invaluable insight and depictions of the land and water resources we work to protect.

Ch'aska Huayhuaca, PhD, Collaborative Program Manager

Colorado Forest Restoration Institute, Colorado State University

Lauren’s illustrations capture the essential features of complex forest resilience and wildfire management concepts and actions in ways that are much more accessible than jargon-heavy text. It’s like packaging a whole field trip into a concise visual. The artwork is a valuable communication tool for the St. Vrain Forest Health Partnership and Northern Colorado Fireshed, helping us boost our capacity for community engagement – I look forward to seeing more of it!

Emily Alcott, Principal Ecologist & Fluvial Geomorphologist

Inter-Fluve Inc., Hood River, OR

Lauren’s graphics have helped us time and again to generate a more inclusive, shared language on our restoration projects. Her graphics help our team build a shared story and common understanding with project stakeholders, which helps the project move forward more effectively and efficiently. I highly recommend collaborating with Lauren!

Christine Goepfert, Midwest Campaign Director

National Parks Conservation Association, Minneapolis, MN

Lauren tackled a complicated project with professionalism and enthusiasm. Her work has helped us move a critical conversation forward in the Twin Cities. She was able to take historical data and imagery for the Mississippi River and create illustrations that help us “Re-imagine the Mississippi” without locks and dams. The drawings have sparked public inquiry and interest in the possibilities for the river’s future.

Brittany Kovach, Communications & Marketing Coordinator

Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Geneva, IL

Lauren demonstrated an unparalleled attention to detail in the creation of 13 interpretive signs and one large welcome sign for our popular forest preserve. Her creative insights added a unique dimension to the project, and her map illustrations and design skills proved to be top-notch. She had excellent communication throughout the process and helped organize and streamline the project. The end result speaks for itself – a collection of stunning signs that captivate the public’s attention.

Jessie Olson, Executive Director

Lefthand Watershed Center,  Niwot, CO

Lauren is an extraordinarily talented ecological designer and artist. Her background and experience in watershed restoration and design allowed her to bring complicated ecological concepts to light in gorgeous, easily digestible drawings. We were blown away by her ability to design and create our watershed conceptual model with great accuracy and a high degree of scientific understanding. We would hire her again in a second.

Matt Johnson, PE, CRM, Water Resource Engineer

Water-Vation, Salida, CO

Lauren’s approach to understanding a project site and the needs and desires of the client are instrumental in developing the restoration plans that meet the project goals. What’s even more incredible is that she has the ability to turn these ideas into easily understood and practical graphics which not only drives communication with stakeholders and the project owner but is also indispensable in the development of the design.

Clay Frazer, Principal Ecologist

Native Range Ecological,  Madison Area, WI

Lauren possesses a gift to truly hear and comprehend her clients’ vision for their lands and to conceptualize those visions into something meaningful and within reach.  She is able to infuse biological science and sound ecological principles with artful creativity in a way that brings people together and fosters an understanding of the natural world.  I have learned a great deal in working with Lauren and I truly look forward to our next collaboration.

Bill Lunney, Former Board Chair

Dane County Parks Commission, Madison, WI

Lauren, you have done a spectacular design for the kiosk. You really helped us sift through all the accomplishments and arranged them to tell a story, highlighting the important things, and giving them themes.  You are an artist in how you can envision a work like this.  You did wonderful research, took excellent photos, and the result is magnificent.  We really love the way it has turned out.

Bob Boucher, President

Superior Bio Conservancy

Few people have the gift to draw beautiful illustrations that effectively communicate ideas, fewer still can illustrate a deep understanding of nature’s processes. As executive director of the Cedar Lakes Conservation Foundation (CLCF) land trust, I worked with LVBrown Studio on the Joan Pick Nature Preserve masterplan. Lauren researched the legacy parcel and creatively coordinated a planning process with Cedar Lakes stakeholders that identified key themes and ideas for the community. As a restoration ecologist, she combined her imagination and design skills to professionally illustrate the potential future of the Preserve.

Peter Foy, President

Friends of Lake Kegonsa Society

Lake Kegonsa’s health is directly related to the water quality of its tributaries, including Door Creek. FOLKS work closely with Dane County Land and Water Resources Department to help residents understand and appreciate the value the natural resources in their watershed. The Door Creek Watershed kiosk signage that Lauren designed for Dane County’s Fish Camp County Park helps us achieve those goals.  It’s a beautiful and informative kiosk!

Scott Stokes, Co-Founder and President

Wolf Run Association, Mazomanie, WI

Lauren is an extremely creative, talented, and knowledgeable watershed design planner that was instrumental in the success of our recent Wolf Run Trail project. Her conceptual plans, informational signage work, team building, and design presentation skills were outstanding and gave our project a very professional touch. She delivered the work on time and stayed within her cost estimates. Plus, she’s an absolute joy to work with.
